It’s exactly one week until Valentine’s Day. Hallmark loves it and single girls dread it. I happen to be one of those obnoxious girls that loves the holiday. Not for the flowers and chocolates (although who doesn’t like pretty things) but for the excuse to girly, crafty things, and best of all: you can bake and not feel
too guilty about it…
I’m all for going out to dinner on Valentine’s Day; it’s always fun to get dressed up and have a hot date night. But this year, we opted for a low-key, romantic dinner at home (cue sappy music).
The picture above is from Taki Japanese Steakhouse in Clive, so if you don’t want to dirty your kitchen, I recommend a festive Valentine’s Roll. So cute!
Here’s a sneak preview at my fancy schmany Valentine’s Day menu (I’ll put my diminishing knowledge of the ‘language of love’ to use to make the courses sound even more fancy!). Pictures to come in a week + a day. It might dampen the mood if I’m trying to blog during date night
L’entrée/La salade (Fun fact!: contrary to popular belief, entrée is actually the “appetizer”): Pear & goat cheese salad with homemade champagne vinaigrette (courtesy of Emily Carlson’s mother :))
Le plat principal (or main course): Balsamic-glazed prime rib with root vegetables
Le dessert (one can only guess what this translates to…): White chocolate & raspberry whoopie pies — this one was specifically chosen by Max…his two favorites in one! See, guys, Valentine’s Day can be fun for you, too!
What do you think? And what are your big V-day plans?
